Why is my top level parameter or generic Latency assigned the wrong value in Synthesis and Simulation?

Description

Latency is a reserved keyword and special parameter in the Quartus® II Software, and will not be passed down through the design hierarchy.

Resolution

To workaround this issue add a user defined suffix / prefix to the parameter  name.

This problem is scheduled to be fixed in a future release of the Quartus II software.
