Why is my Nios® II Ethernet Standard Design Example with NicheStack TCP/IP not working in the Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software version 21.3?

Description

The deliverable for NicheStack TCP/IP Stack used in Nios® II applications is discontinued starting with Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software version 21.3.

This includes the following:

1. Removal of software/driver packages from Intel® Quartus® Prime Software

• InterNiche NicheStack software package– (altera_iniche)
• Triple Speed Ethernet (TSE) UCOSII driver – (triple_speed_ethernet_driver_ucosii_iniche), (altera_eth_tse_driver_ucosii_iniche)
• LAN91C111 UCOSII driver – (altera_avalon_lan91c111_ucosii_driver)

2. Removal of Simple Socket Server and Webserver template from Nios® II Embedded Design Suites
3. Nios® II remote debug design example is not supported.

Resolution

A new TCP/IP stack is planned for a future release of Intel® Quartus®Prime Design Suite. Intel recommends users to port over designs with NicheStack to the new TCP-IP stack when it is made available.
