Why doesn't the Allow Child Partitions assignment have any effect?

Description

Due to a problem in the Quartus® II software, setting the Allow Child Partitions assignment to Off will not prevent the entity from having child partitions.

Resolution

To work around this problem, ensure that you do not assign any child partitions to the entity on which you are trying to use this assignment.

This problem is scheduled to be fixed in a future release of the Quartus II software.
