Why does the Quartus II Text Editor freeze or crash when I replace a string?

Description

Due to a problem in the Quartus® II software version 12.0 SP2 and earlier, the Quartus II Text Editor may freeze or crash when you highlight and replace a string with a number at the end.

Resolution

To work around the problem, perform the following steps:

1. Open a file in the Quartus II Text Editor
2. On the Tools menu, click Options
3. In the Options dialog box, click on Text Editor
4. Turn off the Highlight similar instances of the selected word option

This problem is fixed beginning with the Quartus II software version 12.1.
