Why does the Quartus II software not show that I have installed the Service Pack for version 10.0 or version 10.1?

Description

Due to a problem in the service pack installer for Quartus® II software versions 10.0 SP1 and 10.1 SP1 for Linux, the installer may incorrectly report that it has completed successfully when the service pack was not actually installed. The installation log file may contain the following error:

You do not have write permission to ‘<target install path>‘
Cannot install service patch\!
>>> Executing ‘<target install path>/quartus/bin/tb2_install --webinstall‘

This error occus because the installer incorrectly checks whether you have write permission for the parent directory of the Quartus II installation directory, instead of write permission for the Quartus II installation directory itself.

To avoid this problem, enable write permission for the parent directory of the Quartus II installation directory.

This problem is fixed beginning with the Quartus II software service pack installer version 11.0 SP1.
