Why does the Quartus II software give a fatal error when I make edits and compile my design?

Description

Due to a problem in the Quartus® II software version 13.0 and later, you may see a fatal error in the following situation:

1. You had an error during your previous compilation
2. In the Flow Messages or Flow Suppressed Messages reports, you select any of the filters other than All
3. You edit your design and recompile

Resolution

To avoid this problem, make sure that the Flow Messages and Flow Suppressed Messages reports have All messages selected before launching a new compilation.

This problem is scheduled to be fixed in a future release of the Quartus II software.
