Why does the Intel Quartus Prime Pro fail to export assignments ?

Description

Due to a problem in the Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition software version 17.1 Update 2 and earlier, you may see that the Export Assignments is not functioning correctly.

Resolution

To work around this problem, manually edit the Quartus settings file (.qsf) to add the assignments.

This problem is fixed beginning with the Intel Quartus Prime Pro Edition 18.0.
