Why does the HDMI RX-TX Retransmit Design Example Show High Character Error Counts or Cause Video Flickering on an External HDMI sink in TMDS Mode
Description
When generating the HDMI RX-TX Retransmit with Clocked Video Interface or HDMI RX-TX Retransmit with AXI4-stream Interface Without Video Frame Buffer, you may encounter high error counts or video flickering on the HDMI sink.
In these Design Dxamples, the RX TMDS clock from the HDMI cable drives the TX PLL reference clock. Any jitter on the RX TMDS clock is passed to the TX path, potentially causing high character error counts or flickering at the sink.
Resolution
The HDMI RX-TX Retransmit Design Example is meant for demonstration purposes only for you.
For stable operation, use a clean programmable clock for the TX PLL reference.
