Why does the Export System as hw.tcl component command fail with no error in Qsys?

Description

Due to a problem in the Quartus® II software version 12.1 on Windows operating systems, the Export System as hw.tcl component command in Qsys may fail with no error message. A popup window may briefly appear.

Resolution

To work around this problem in the Quartus® II software version 12.1, run Qsys on a supported Linux operating system.

This problem is fixed beginning with the Quartus II software version 12.1 SP1.
