Why does the ALM count change in the Fitter Summary Report after I rerun the Fitter(Finalize) stage following a full compilation?

Description

Due to a problem in the Quartus® Prime Pro Edition software version 17.1 Update 2 and earlier, the ALM count reported in the Fitter Summary report does not correctly reflect the  ALM resource count when the Fitter(Finalize) stage is run as part of a full compilation flow.

The numbers reported are the pre-Finalize results, which are unlikely to match the ALM figures after the Finalize stage is fully completed.

Resolution

To obtain the correct ALM figures in the Fitter Summary, rerun the Fitter(Finalize) stage manually.
