Why does my SignalTap II Logic Analyzer instance fail to trigger when connecting the trigger_out port of one instance to the trigger_in port of another?

Description

Due to a problem in the Quartus® II software version 14.0 and earlier, you may experience triggering problems. This occurs when connecting the trigger_out port of one SignalTap™ II instance to the trigger_in port of another SignalTap II instance when one or both of the instances have been renamed.

Resolution

To avoid this problem, recreate the SignalTap II file (.stp) and do not rename the instances.

This problem is scheduled to be fixed in a future version of the Quartus II software.
