Why do I get the error message, "ERROR: Failed to load FLI object file 'C:\qess\bin\libess_ssfli.so.'" when trying to simulate my Excalibur™ family design in the ModelSim® tool software with the Excalibur stripe simulator (ESS)?

Description

You will receive this error message when trying to use ESS if you have not specified the location of the ESS installation file correctly in your Windows PATH variable.

To resolve this problem, specify the location of the ESS installation file (i.e., c:\qess\bin or %QESS_ROOTDIR%\bin) in your PATH variable, and confirm that this location is referenced in the PATH variable immediately preceeding the Quartus^® II root directory.
