Why are MAX 3000 and MAX 7000 devices not available when installing device libraries for the Quartus II software version 12.0?

Description

Due to a problem in the device installer for Quartus® II software version 12.0, MAX® 3000 and MAX 7000 devices may be unavailable if you are installing using the downloaded individual component 12.0_devices_cyclone_max_legacy_windows.exe.

Resolution

To install the missing device libraries, use the Altera Installer by clicking Download Windows Version on the Altera Download Center webpage.

This problem is fixed beginning with the Quartus II software version 12.1.
