Why are Hex files not generated when initialize memory content is enabled in my Intel® Arria®10 design?

Description

Due to a problem in the Quartus® II Software version 14.1, Memory Initialization or Hexadecimal (Intel-Format) files are not generated when the  "Initialize memory content" option is enabled in the "Memory initialization" section for the On-chip Memory IP in Qsys designs targeting Intel® Arria® 10.

Resolution

To workaround this problem in the Quartus® II Software version 14.1, follow the steps below:

1) Disable the "Initialize memory content" check box in the Memory Initialization section for On-chip Memory in Qsys.

2) A Memory Initialization File or Hexadecimal (Intel-Format) file will be generated.  

This problem is fixed with the Quartus® II software version 15.0.
