What is vertical migration in Altera devices?

Description

Vertical migration is a Quartus II software feature that allows a design to be able to migrate to all supported migration path devices in the same package.

 

This results in drop-in compatibility between all supported devices in the migration path. 

 

You should refer to the Quartus II software Pin Migration window in the Pin Planner to see the pin migration results for all devices in the migration path.
