How do I perform VHDL simulation for the altchip_id megafunction?

Description

The Quartus® II software version 13.1 and earlier only has VHDL simulation support for the altchip_id megafunction for the Modelsim simulator.
A Verilog HDL simulation model for the altchip_id megafunction is available for all supported simulators.

Resolution

If you require simulation support for the altchip_id megafunction for any simulator other than ModelSim, you are required to use the Verilog HDL simulation model.
VHDL model support is scheduled to be added for non-ModelSim simulators in a future release.
