How can I calculate how much space is left in my configuration device with compression turned on?
Description
You can calculate how much space is left in your configuration device with compression turned on by following these steps:
- Use a typical compression factor of 30% to 55%.
- Multiply the uncompressed configuration files size (as stated in the respective device datasheet) by the typical compression factor.
- Subtract the value from step 2 with the maximum memory size of the configuration device.
Note: The 30% to 55% compression factor is only a typical value as stated in the respective device handbook.
Resolution
Example: The following calculation uses a Arria® V B5 device and an EPCQ128 configuration device using a 30% compression factor.
134,217,728 bits - (185,327,416 bits * 0.7) = 4,488,537 bits
