Error: nios.<Nios II Instance>: Reset slave <Address Span Extender Instance>.windowed_slave not connected to instruction_master.

Description

This error may be seen due to a problem in the Quartus® II software version 14.0, for Nios® II designs using the Address Span Extender component, configured with the slave control port disabled and the Nios II has its "Reset vector memory" set to the windowed_slave interface of the Address Span Extender.

Resolution

To work around this problem in the Quartus II software version 14.0 follow the steps below:

1. Set the Reset Vector Memory in the Nios II Megawizard to Absolute
2. Specify the Absolute address of the Memory used for the reset vector in the reset vector offset field

This problem is scheduled to be addressed in a future release of the Quartus II software.
