Description

You may observe this error when importing an Early Power Estimator (EPE) .csv file of a Stratix® V design which consists of DSP blocks instantiated manually.

Resolution

To work around this limitation, take one of the below options.

1. Use the Power Analyzer in Intel® Quartus® Prime Software instead
2. Use DSP IP instead of instantiating DSP blocks manually
3. Manually edit the .csv file to avoid an error importing to EPE

For workaround #3, follow the below procedure.

1. Open the .csv file in Excel
2. Search for 18X25 Complex in Column "N" 
3. For each row found, edit a value in column "V"  from 1 to 0 - It will look like the below screen capture.
4. Save the .csv file and close  
5. Import the .csv file to EPE 

This workaround causes some inaccuracy in the estimation.

For the most accurate estimation, the Power Analyzer needs to be used.

This limitation won’t be fixed since the current version of EPE for Stratix® V is a permanent release.
