Error (261003): Can't continue the established JTAG communication. Reconnect communications cable and device.

Description

Due to a problem in the Quartus® II software version 12.0, you may see this error message when using debug tools that depend on JTAG communication. This problem may result in JTAG communication errors or corrupted data. This problem affects debug tools such as the SignalTap™ II Logic Analyzer and In-System Sources and Probes. 

Resolution

To work around this problem, download and install patch 0.dp3 for the Quartus II software version 12.0 from the related solution below.

This problem is fixed beginning with the Quartus II software version 12.0 SP1.
