Error (17980): [Region boundary port] is constrained to the placement region <region location> that does not overlap with the region of its parent instance <instance name>

Description

This error may be seen in the Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software when you use wildcards to constrain the Partial Reconfiguration Region boundary ports in your Hierarchical Partial Reconfiguration design. The error can occur when the wildcards you use in your constraints mean that the boundary ports of the parent region do not match the boundary ports of the child region.

Resolution

To avoid this error, you should check which wildcard in constraints can cause this mismatch, and replace it with a complete name.
