Can Altera devices and software be used in a SIL 3 certifiable system?

Yes, Altera® devices and software can be used in a SIL 3 certified system.

Altera's qualification by TUV shows that our tools and devices are sufficiently free of systematic errors that they can be used in a SIL3 systems.

Any hardware that is external to Altera devices is your responsibility to verify if it can be used an a SIL 3 system.  Furthermore, Altera has only certified Altera products and not any third party products (devices and tools).
