Description

Due to data corruption in the  Intel® Quartus® Prime profile folder ($HOME/altera.quartus) in the Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition software version 19.3 or below for Linux, you may see a 'Fatal Error: Unhandled exception' message followed by the next error lines:

This error prevents the Intel® Quartus® Prime graphic user interface to open. 

Resolution

To work around this problem,  execute the following command:

quartus --reset

Your Intel® Quartus® Prime profile folder ($HOME/altera.quartus) will be restored to its default values.
